Learning Trajectory and Force Control of an Artificial Muscle Arm

چکیده
We propose a new parallel-hierarchical neural network model to enable motor learning for simultaneous control of both trajectory and force. by integrating Hogan's control method and our previous neural network control model using a feedback-error-learning scheme. Furthermore. two hierarchical control laws which apply to the model, are derived by using the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse matrix. One is related to the minimum muscle-tension-change trajectory and the other is related to the minimum motor-command-change trajectory. The human arm is redundant at the dynamics level since joint torque is generated by agonist and antagonist muscles. Therefore, acquisition of the inverse model is an ill-posed problem. However. the combination of these control laws and feedback-error-learning resolve the ill-posed problem. Finally. the efficiency of the parallel-hierarchical neural network model is shown by learning experiments using an artificial muscle arm and computer simulations.

Practical Gripper Performance for Intelligent Active Force Control of a Robot Arm Actuated by Pneumatic Artificial Muscles
In this paper, an intelligent Active Force Control (AFC) of a single-link Pneumatic Artificial Muscle (PAM) actuated robot arm employing Fuzzy Logic (FL) element has been applied and tested through an experimental study. The robot arm is desired to move along a one radian circular trajectory as a joint angle tracking control in the wake of the introduced disturbances. To demonstrate the practic...

This paper presents a new intelligent method to control rehabilitation robots by mainly considering reactions of patient instead of doing a repetitive preprogrammed movement. It generates a general reference trajectory based on different reactions of patient during therapy. Three main reactions has been identified and included in reference trajectory: small variations, force shocks in a single ...

This paper highlights the practical viability and feasibility of an active force control (AFC) technique incorporating an iterative learning (IL) algorithm known as AFCAIL applied to a two-link planar arm actuated by a pair of pneumatic artificial muscles (PAM). The robust performance of a robot control scheme is vital to ensure that the robot accomplishes its tasks desirably in a constraint en...
متن کاملThe Effects of Local Heating and Cooling of Arm on Maximal Isometric Force Generated by the Elbow Flexor Musculature in Male Subjects
Objectives: It is well known that neuromuscular function is temperature sensitive. Changing of muscle temperature can effect voluntary muscle contraction. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of cooling and heating on maximal isometric force generated by the elbow flexor musculature in male subjects. Methods: Forty five healthy males encompassing 3 groups participated in the ...
متن کاملControl of pneumatic robot arm dynamics by a neural network
The trajectory control of a pneumatically driven robot arm resembing a skeletal muscle system is studied. The arm dynamics have been shown to be hysteretic and signiicantly changing in time due to external innuences (Hesselroth et al., IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics, in press) thus requiring an adaptive controller. A highly adaptive feedback algorithm is suggested and shown to control accura...
